This late 15th century, timber framed cottage sits on the corner of Church Street. The fine pargeting on the front of the cottage dates back to the 17th Century and around this time the property was divided into separate cottages. Staddles Cottage enjoys some of the best of the original features with an inglenook fireplace, an extraordinary high beamed ceiling, exposed beams and an original Suffolk brick floor, which has been relaid with the luxury of underfloor heating. The adjacent room has been completely reworked to provide a modern, stylish kitchen dining area with french doors opening into a secluded courtyard garden.
This pet-friendly property is ideal for a couple wanting to soak up the wealth of local history and to explore the villages of Clare and Long Melford or the neighbouring old wool towns of Suffolk.
“If you’re thinking of staying in Lavenham, you couldn’t find a better cottage than Staddles. It was just the right size for two, well-appointed and very comfortable. Helen is warm and welcoming and the complimentary welcome pack was delicious. The cottage is only a stones throw from many good pubs and cafes so you won’t go hungry and is the ideal place for visiting the nearby Suffolk villages. Thank you!” Wendy, (Stayed May 2019)
There were so many little personal touches that went above and beyond expectation, it is difficult to know where to begin! The welcome pack was not only unexpected but a real personal touch. The bed was superb and so so comfortable. We loved the modern kitchen and all it had to offer. The underfloor heating was wonderful! We loved every quirky inch of Staddles! Our only regret is we could not stay longer! Carol, (Stayed October 2018)
“Staddles is a fabulous old cottage, but with a modern kitchen for convenience. Everything is provided for your comfort and the location is excellent.” Wendy, (Stayed August 2018)
Lovely accommodation, very clean and comfortable. Lavenham is even nicer than expected! Thank you. Sandie & Keith, (Stayed August 2017)
A fabulous stay in this historic quaint cottage , very relaxing and yes we agree the bed is very comfortable. All the extras that are provided are very much appreciated. Lovely local bread and bacon wow - real bacon!! We did some nice walks from the cottage to various surrounding villages. Food at the Cock Horse was good, as was the Indian. No 10 was exceptional, excellent food and first class service. We would definitely recommend the cottage to family and friends and have enjoyed our stay. Sue & Brian, (Stayed June 2016)
We have had a lovely stay in Staddles - very good weather too! Staddles is perfect for 2, not cramped. How lovely to walk out onto the High Street from the doorstep. Definitely intend to return, Thank you. David & Anne, Peterborough, (Stayed April 2016)
Lavenham and Staddles as calming and restful as ever, another very enjoyable week. Michael & Pat, London, (Stayed March 2016)
