Beccles is a busy Suffolk town, renowned for its impressive variety of quirky and appealing shops, many of which are independent retailers. Local produce can be purchased at The Beccles Farmers Market, and crafts from The Country Market held at Quaker Hall.
Whether you are looking for a cafe, pub or restaurant, to refresh or refuel, there are both independent establishments and a few recognisable chains all within the heart of the town.
Wherever you stay in Suffolk, walking and cycling is most likely to be an optional activity from your front door step. The Marsh was given to the town by Queen Elizabeth 1 in 1584, in recognition of the town’s importance as a trading centre for the woollen industry. You can explore the Marsh on three different trails, each varying in length and character. Maps are available from the Tourist Information Centre or the Town Hall, and by waymarking arrows along the paths.
