Situated in a quiet rural lane, amidst beautiful Norfolk countryside, The Nest is an early 19th Century cottage, which has been lovingly restored, and transformed into a spacious and romantic retreat for two.

The well equipped kitchen and lobby/utility area leads through to the cosy sitting room, complete with log burner, and a sumptuous sofa, which is the original part of the house. A door then leads through to two large light, bright and airy rooms, both with vaulted ceilings; the large bathroom, with an indulgent roll top slipper bath, separate corner shower, and a large window, leading on to the bedroom, with a beautiful kingsize bed, a large wardrobe, and french doors which open out into the garden.

The Nest is an annex to the main house, completely self contained, and offers superb accommodation for those wishing to enjoy the local Norfolk and Suffolk countryside, for walkers and cyclists especially. The coastal resorts of Southwold, Walberswick and Dunwich are a short drive away, as is the RSPB reserve at Minsmere.

    • Entrance and utility and lobby area: Cupboards, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine and milk frother. Bench to sit, space for shoe storage, and hanging space for coats

    • Sitting area: A large, sumptuous sofa, log burner, coffee table, armchair, TV and large window with views to the garden

    • Kitchen: Well equipped with a large range of fitted units, oven, induction hob, table and chairs, radio.

    • Bathroom: Large bathroom with vaulted ceiling, corner shower enclosure, basin, WC, and roll top slipper bath

    • Master bedroom: Spacious bedroom with vaulted ceiling, french doors to the garden. Beautiful bed, bedside tables and lights, wardrobes, dressing table and chair

    • Outside: Guests have the use of a private patio with bench, table and chairs, parasol, fire pit and views to the beautiful gardens and surrounding countryside. This area is screened and for guests use only ( not shared). There is a gravel drive for guests to park, and a secure shed, should you wish to bring bicycles

    • Heating: Oil fired heating throughout

    • Also... Wifi included, fibre, now a very good connection! (cannot be guaranteed). Mobile signal can be patchy depending on your provider

    • Babies are welcome, but up to about one year old (pre-walking) due to the uneven stone floors and woodburner

    • Local Pub... The Old Kings Head, Brockdish. 3 miles (10 minutes) See Refuel and Refresh below for details of our recommended venues.

    • Local Shop... A good choice of independent shops and supermarkets in Diss

Local Tourist spots: The 100th Bomb Group Museum, Haughley Park House & Gardens, Bressingham Steam Museum and Gardens, Snetterton Race Circuit, Mid Suffolk Railway, Diss Auction Rooms, Museum of East Anglian Life and The Greene King Brewery, Minsmere RSPB Centre, Bury St Edmunds, Southwold. The Nest is absolutely gorgeous, spotlessly clean, photos don’t do it justice. The location is perfect, down and “quiet lane” attached to owners house ,bigger inside than it looks. The owners are really lovely and very friendly and helpful, and lots of nice touches,Diane’s cake was amazing one of the best I’ve ever tasted, honestly can’t find any faults at all,and I would definitely be happy to go back if the opportunity arises,Thanks again Diane, the Nest is an absolute credit to you!!. Joanne, (Stayed June 2023)
Such an amazing find - exceeded all my expectations. Property is finished to such a high quality. I am struggling to find anything negative at all! And the cake was such a lovely welcome! Selina, (Stayed August 2022)

Lovely little House extension. The Nest is a great retreat in the Countryside. Very private with lovely garden to enjoy in fine weather. It has everything you would wish for. Peter, (Stayed June 2021)

My partner Lisa and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at The Nest. We had the best time here and actually said within 5 minutes of arriving we could actually live here. Our expectations were truly beaten as The Nest is absolutely stunning and has such a lovely warm homely feel, our hosts Diana and Mike are so friendly and welcoming, gave us some wonderful advice about the local area and was a pleasure to meet them. We had one evening meal at the local pub The Swan Inn, alfresco dining right now but was lovely and we would thoroughly recommend a visit. Most of our time was spent walking and driving round the beautiful local towns and villages, Beccles certainly stood out for us with the lovely river and if your brave a heated outdoor lido. Lisa and I are already planning another stay at The Nest and cannot wait to go back. We have stayed in many locations over the years and I can honestly say this was up there as one of our favourites, certainly in the UK. Thank you to all who made our stay perfect. Lisa and Rich , (Stayed April 2021)
“The Nest is a brilliant getaway - beautifully decorated, wonderful location and Diane is an amazing host. Such lovely touches including a tasty cake on arrival, a lit fire and a great menu of local tips. Great for a rest and relaxing break. Would highly recommend staying here - will be back very soon!” Lia, (Stayed November 2020)
The Nest is an absolute gem of a place. I don't think the pictures even do it justice, because even though I had fairly high expectations, they were exceeded by the reality. It is cosy, beautifully put together, and full of lovely welcoming touches. It is also well kitted out with everything you could need for your stay, much more than you often find with holiday cottages. Overall it is a really romantic and special place, and we are looking forward to going back for another stay! Diane, the owner, is really kind and thoughtful, gave us lots of helpful tips of things to do, but also left us in peace to enjoy our holiday. The homemade cake, treats and wine on arrival were really unexpected and much appreciated! The location is peaceful, very rural but also an easy drive to some lovely places to visit (Norwich and Bury St Edmunds both less than an hour and worth a trip) Laura, (Stayed November 2020)
Diane's hospitality was second to none. What an amazing place to stay. The Nest had it all. Such a cosy place to stay with plenty of walking and beautiful countryside on the doorstep. Thank you! Matthew, (Stayed October 2020)
What a lovely idyllic cottage in a very quiet location with a brilliant host, perfect setup and lots of extra little touches. Was an amazing break away from it all. Will be back & soon!! Anne, (Stayed October 2020)
“A relaxing very well presented and comfortable place to stay. Lots of thought has gone into making sure you have excellent facilities. I would definitely recommend staying here. The host is welcoming, helpful and friendly. You will not be disappointed.” Pauline, (Stayed September 2020)
We have had the most wonderful stay at The Nest. The location is idyllic and Diane, the host, has created the most beautiful, luxurious and comfortable accommodation we have had the pleasure to stay in. The Nest is spotlessly clean, and the quality furnishings and Diane’s attention to detail is obvious in every room. With doors opening from the bedroom, the garden is the most perfect place for an early morning cup of tea, as well as an evening glass of wine as the sun goes down. We cannot recommend The Nest highly enough for a stay in this quintessentially English area of Norfolk. We only wish we could have stayed longer but we will definitely be back. Thank you Diane for making us so welcome. Lesley, (Stayed May 2019)
My husband and I arrived at The Nest for a Winter getaway and what a getaway it is! Diane has created a beautiful environment and her attention to detail is spectacular. We truly felt tucked away in this cosy Nest! My husband and I enjoyed walking around the local village and ticked off many of the local recommendations courtesy of our wonderful hosts. The Nest provided the perfect getaway during a cold winter and we will absolutely be coming back to experience this beautiful B&B and part of the world in the warmer weather. Dana, (Stayed January 2019)
Thank you for allowing us to stay, we had a wonderful weekend here and really do not want to leave. The Nest is so warm and cosy and you made us feel very welcome. We will return soon x Terrie & Gerald, (Stayed October 2018)
Been here about half an hour and have fallen in love with the place! It's 1st October and time for us to go! I have to say we really don't want to! It's been a really lovely stay, thank you Diane. We'll definitely be back if you will have us! Paula & Dave, (Stayed September 2018)

The Nest is a great place to stay. It is beautifully decorated and has everything you need for a holiday. The Location is excellent with Norwich 25 minutes away or Southwold around 40 minutes. We had a wonderful time staying at The Nest and were made to feel very welcome by Diane who had helpful tips and advice. The outside space accessed, from the bedroom was a super area to enjoy the sunshine. Jon & Dylan, (Stayed June 2018)
